Dr Marc Lyall BSc, MB BS, MRCPsych, DipFMH, LLM, MAcadMed
While at medical school, Dr Lyall completed a degree in the history of medicine. He qualified in medicine and surgery from the Royal London and St Barts medical school in 1997, gaining a distinction in surgery. After working in general medicine and surgery and care of the elderly medicine, he completed junior psychiatry training at the Maudsley Hospital. He then worked in a pioneering early psychosis service in Melbourne, Australia. Dr Lyall returned to England and completed further training in both general adult and forensic psychiatry working at Springfield Hospital and in East London. He has been a full time NHS consultant based in London since 2007.
Dr Lyall has extensive experience of assessing and treating all forms of common mental illness, for example depression and anxiety, and special experience in conditions such as autism and Aspergers Syndrome and substance misuse.
Dr Lyall has completed a Masters degree in mental health law and regularly teaches on medico-legal topics. He is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and a Member of the Academy of Medical Educators. He is a College Tutor for the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is a Royal College examiner. He has published journal articles on a range of topics, including decision making in psychiatry.
